Use Kali (and Win-KeX) without installing additional software. Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is included out of the box with modern Windows. Ive followed these instructions, but Im getting an error: An installation step failed. Since we're both using VMs, we might as well set up a few more and try a couple different routes. Access to the Kali toolset through the WSL framework. Im having an issue installing Kali in VirtualBox from the iso. I wouldn't think the partitioning scheme (separate /home /var and /tmp) would mess things up. Everything goes accordingly until I get to step step 12. I then reboot using the USB and go through the whole process steps(I also looked at the tutorial to make sure I wasnt missing anything). I would have to think maybe there's an issue with LVM in the setup process, but again, I don't know for sure. I Have downloaded the kali Linux 2018.1 for i686 iso(the i368 one I assumed it was the correct one) and put it on a usb. The problem is that when I get to the step where it installs the system, it says that the installation failed. ![]() Ive seen a few videos/tutorials and followed the steps. Select "All files in one partition" (Note: I previously used the separate /home, /var, and /tmp option and got the error) I tried to install kali linux 2.0 on VirtualBox 5.0.1.Proceed until you reach the "Partitioning scheme:" setting You can try to run the failing item again from the menu, or skip it and choose something else.Select "Guided - use entire disk" (Note: I previously used the un-encrypted LVM option and got the error, so now we're avoiding that) IMG: Partitioning method. ![]() Proceed until you get to the "Partition method" step.I wanted to overwrite the partitions because you'll get errors if there are some leftover files from the previous attempt. Go up and select "Guided partition" again, ignoring the configuration stuff from the previous attempt(s).
